With a very rough driven shoot on the Sussex Coast near Bosham.
We shoot 8 days (including a “kid’s day) always on a Saturday and put down 550 pheasant, 400 partridge and 150 duck, shooting over 600 acres most of which belongs to my aunt and the balance to my sisters and I. The average bag is c. 60.
Lunch is a cheese roll and mug of soup with the keeper / beaters organise and provide in a hut.
The role is essentially unpaid although costs are covered and there are tips, lots of pigeon shooting and vermin cover and, of course, a beater’s day with the option for another keeper’s day and possibly some flighting.
It’s a very relaxed and informal shoot with a lot of laughter.
